Ran across a couple of old pix tonight of my first new car...a '79 Mustang Turbo. The color was called "Red Glow" and was somewhat close to my current Redfire (the Kodak Instamatic didn't do the color justice. For those of you under 40 that are wondering what I'm talking about, Wiki "Instamatic"....lol).

The first thing I did that summer was dump the blackwall B78-14 tires for a set of BFG Raised White Letter tires mounted on a set of American Racing "Vector" wheels. I'd throw the skinny OEM tires on in the winter and never got stuck.

Those pic brings back memories of my second Mustang, A white 1985 LX convertable.
I still would have it if it didn't overheat on a whim....
...I could never figure it out even after changing the pump, thermo cap, hoses, and radiator.
I'm still trying to find those pictures, in a box, buried downstairs in the storage closet...somewhere....

Andy, I had a friend with an '85LX V8. Cool!!!

Steve, I had those same plastic turbine wheel covers on my '79. Only thing was, it had blackwall tires. I remember swapping out my headlights with sealed beam halogens when they came out in '80. The halogens used less electricity that it fooled the "headlight out" warning light to come on.

Very Nice reminds me a lot of My First "Mustang" which was a 79 Mercury Capri RS with the 5.0....Man I love that car and still miss it.

Don't Hate on me!

Okay, since it looks like this thread is turning into a "My first car" theme...thought I'd follow suite, but only after 91whitegeetee confessed that his was a Mercury (very close) and not a MUSTANG.
Well mine wasn't either.

My first "new" car
1987 Pontiac Sunbird GT Vert, twizzler red & black...closest to a Mustang I could find I guess.
Lots of "single girl" good times were had in that ride.

Steevr,
My first Mustang was also a 1979 Turbo Black. I will have to find the picture and post it.

Cool....can't wait to see it.

I got sick of just the plain green idiot light that would light up for boost, so since I didn't have a/c (didn't have quite enough money to get that option), there was no center vent on the dash. I made a round cutout and installed a vacuum/boast gauge. Looked like it came from the factory that way. Of course I was always trying to peg the gauge!!!

I'll never forget the first "Cassette" I listened to on the way from the dealer.....Van Halen II....."Ah yes, beautiful Girls".
