Hey folks, as a Challenger R/T and S197 Mustang GT owner, I just wanted to pass on some tips for taking on 2009 5.7 HEMI Challenger R/Ts as I am still learning to handle my new R/T manual 6 speed.

From a dead stop, get off the line as best as you can and you may be able to take an early lead. This lead may hold as the Challenger has a lower rev limit and will have to get off the gas to shift sooner.

If the R/t is driving with ESP on, it will slow him down off the line and when shifting. The Mopar ESP computer is very intrusive. But there is a way for the R/T drivers to turn it off completely so don't count on a bad Challenger start.

From a roll, these R/T's really scoot so watch out if he is already moving.

The R/Ts (at least I can confirm the manual R/T's) do have an easter-egg in the dash for a 0 - 60 mph timer so they can practice fast launches on the streets and have empherical data on each try to get it right. As the R/T driver has more time to practice his lauch to really hit it, S197 drivers may lose the off-the-line advantage.

As an example, in a little over 2 weeks of driving my R/T, I have improved from a pittifull 6.7 second best 0 - 60 to a 5.29 second 0 - 60 time. And I think htere is more there with some more practice before the snow really begins to fly.

Good luck!
