Can anyone suggest a tuner to me in the north suburbs that works with SCT equipment and a dyno. I hate driving 2-3 hours one way just to tune the car or pay somebody $150+ to tow it there. By north, I dont mean west suburbs, I mean like Gurnee, Kenosha, Waukegan area.

Vals in Round Lake Beach does tuning but don't think SCT and I have no idea how good they are other then a friend had his camaro tuned there and they tuned it with the rockers not being properly tightened down and didn't say anything.

LOL, its not supposed to be, just the only place in the north that I know of that does tune. But I wouldn't have them tune my car.

they are the ones i just picked it up from. i need somebody that works more with the SCT stuff beyond the hand tuner. they tuned it last time and i've used their dyno a few times in the past. but i need someone who can get new firmware onto my hand tuner and tune the damn thing.

I would not have Val's tune a car. Maybe, Kurgan could meet you and tune it at Speed inc. I know he has done that before. Also ask Mike Post. He is in Woodstock and might be able to help out

i should see what there is in Wisconsin, since that would be a lot closer to me. I can never get the common tuners to come up to any closer shops. they normally say they wont do it unless they had enough cars together to make it worth their time basically. that's the consensus i've gotten around here.
i never realized how good I had it when I lived down in Louisville where I had a shop that could dyno tune, do installations and more under one roof locally with very quick obsessive work. i just havent found that around here. Just a lot of inflated talk about their work and nothing amazing when it comes to my experience. I really have to just do work myself here, as i've found, if i want anything done in any sort of timely manner or with the attention to detail necessary.
the only experience i've had in the last few years here, that comes anywhere close to what I'm used to getting back in Louisville or California was Victor ford and unfortunately they don't dyno tune.
i'll check some other sources. if anything comes up i'll share.

What have you done to the car that you need a tune. I'm just asking to see if I can be of help.

pm returned.
i need the a/f adjusted because its running rich and needs the timing adjusted and 3.73 gears programmed in to correct the speedo.
just got firmware update for the handheld but get the 'no index file' error when going into program mode on the car, with the hand held.

Thanks but I'm still running the original "mail-order" custom tune from Brenspeed for the CAI only. Nothing else I've done to my car required more than basic adjustment for tire size and 4.10 gears that anyone who has a tuner for their car can do.

Just in case.
There is always DynoTune MP up in Stillman Valley that tuned Vitamin C's car. Then of course the man himself Kurgan is right down the street from DynoTune in Stillman/Rockford. Both deal with SCT/HP Tuners/Diablos.
