Here are some photos that I have taken over the years...

This is a photo from FLYPAST magazine out of England. The photo was taken while I was at the P51 Gathering of Legends in Columbus, Ohio, last September (2007). A friend of mine from England told me about it.

This next photo is the actual pilot who flew "West By Gawd Virginian". The P51 depicted on this side of my car. Punchy Powell had 3 aerial victories, and 3 ground victories back in 1944. Sitting in the car is his daughter.

I also collect autographs from WWII Veterans. On the hood, are 90 autographs of pilots, armorers, crew cheifs, mechanics, weather specialists, etc...of just the 352nd Fighter Group. The original Bluenosers! The signatures were enlarged, and put on silver decals to make it look like the Vets scratched their sigs into the blue paint, down to the aluminum.

Here's my version of Cripes A'Mighty 3rd, next to a beautifully restored P51 version. Cripes A'Mighty 3rd was chosen for the following reasons:
1. The pilot, George Preddy, was the leading Ace in the Eurpean Theater when he was killed.
2. He is the pilot from that group with the most victories.
3. That P51 has the most kills than any other P51 in history.
4. George Preddy was the leading Mustang Ace
I thought it very fitting to use that paint scheme for the driver's side of my project.

Here are some other photos of the car next to other WWII Warbirds. That is my little goal in life, to see how many different WWII planes I can get the car photographed with.

Hell, I barely saw it this year!!! I'm still missing one door panel and the roof. I'll be looking to get this finished this spring. Car is put away until at least April.

Thanks, Shar! I didn't get to see your car this summer either. I ended up spending my Sundays out on the chain with our boat since I didn't have a car. Maybe next season.

Here are a couple of photos that were taken this year. Y'know, I only had my car out 2 times this summer. This was at the Waukeegan airport the thursday after Victor Ford.

Before I bought my pony, I was expermenting with this same idea.
A tribute car for my Navy fighter squadron VF-142, "The Ghostriders".
It's sooooo cool to see someone actually carry the theme to a finished masterpiece!
All of your pictures "ROCK" and should be framed in a themed office trophy room!!!! :023:

:woohoo: Well, you guys aren't going to believe this, but my interior is 85% complete! Just need to finish the back seat area (not too worried about that at the moment) and the leather needs to be steamed to remove all the wrinkles. Top isn't done at all, but I'm hoping to have that going soon.

I rode the interior guy HARD for the last couple of weeks, and he finished it up last Sunday. I was so busy, I didn't have time to take photos of the interior. Car is put away, and I have to work Sunday through Thursday, so I won't get photos of it out until prolly Friday.

I'm planning on having the car out at the Waukegan airport on Thursday night when the WWII planes come in. I'm hearing I'll have a couple of more photo opportunities!

I'd have to say that I'm pretty happy with the interior so far, and I had a blast driving the car last Sunday. I haven't driven it since last years' Victor Ford show!

It has been FOREVER!! I am so happy for you and for sure looking forward to those pics you'll be taking with the planes. Great news..I almost forgot about you. Been way too long since you've been here.

I know! Been keeping busy with work, the house, and boating. It kept my mind off the car, but a month ago, my dad asked me to move the car (it's in his shop in a bubble), and after I fired it up, I got the itch to drive it again. I pestered the interior guy, relentlesly! Now for the top!

The wrinkles will be steamed out, and the P51 on the door will be painted as if it were a leather jacket.

NAA, North American Aviation, built the P51. Here is the emblem embroidered on the dash pad. Also, you can see the P51 guages in the console. Again, wrinkles will be steamed out.

SO MUCH custom stuff in this car. I've seen this car at Gurnee McDonalds and Victor Ford show. One of the subtle details I like about it is how the blue in the paint curves down and kind of utilizes the shape/space on the front to somehow give it more of the fighter jet appearance. There's a lot of details on this car. from the gauges, signatures on the hood, stitching on the interior pieces. Many details.

I was there too... More just for the classics....So many kids with food, and people wanting to touch the car, but I was towards the back.

Been gone for awhile, but wanted to share some updated photos. I trailered the car to Missouri for a small photo shoot with the monument of the states leading ace, then to Atlanta to spend time with Robert Powell (flew West by gawd Virginian), then off to Orlando area for a WWII reunion. I managed to find a very attractive model while there, and she agreed to wear my vintage North American Aviation jump suit, and posed for me with my car, and also some of the P51's that were there. She was a good sport, and we had a lot of fun!

I LOVE this car! I'm pretty sure that me and the kids saw you up at the Osh Kosh Show a few years ago and fell in love with it. My computer crashed with most of my Mustang pictures from the past show I attended, but I will see if I can find them. Nice to see you here and we can't wait to see the car again!

Who are all the signatures on the hood, or is that explained by the windshield decal?

Thanks, Mark. We were at a 352nd Fighter Group reunion, so pics had to be tastefull. I never met Corey before, but she walked passed me, and I noticed that not only was she cute, but she was tall, and would be able to fit into my vintage NAA coveralls. Her face was priceless when I asked, "Can I borrow you for a little while?"

I'm glad you all like it! The signatures are actually decals we made up from my autographed photo collection. We lifted the signatures of any member of the 352nd Fighter GRoup (pilots, armorers, crew chiefs, staff, etc...) and put them on a silver decal to simulate the Veterans carving their name into the blue paint down to the aluminum.
