Well the painted stripes are looking great! Beighey and no gold-YEY. Cervini's are still curing. Possible this could be ready Friday and maybe head up to Volo...maybe. I don't want any freaking bugs hitting this brand new paint. My body guy calls me every afternoon to keep me updated he wants it perfect and that's OK with me.

I know....but it's possible! Hahaha...yeah right. Actually I'd rather let it sit there over the weekend and cure a bit longer.

Yes..I have THE worst case of Separation Anxiety Syndrome...man it was hard going to the show but great getting to meet everyone.

This car has only ONE trophy and I swear I won it because a storm was coming in. It is unusual..so much so my body guy was like...not wanting to paint these in metallic parchment. But it really looks nice with the blue...really. But thank you...she never wins, but we hang out together well! Only true gear heads understand this..it's been brutal.

Thanks coming from you sir I am honored!

It's getting 2 coats of clear coat. Whats this product?

It's kind like a clear vinyl (over simplified) that goes on over the paint. It is removable but not re-usable. People use it on the leading egde of hoods, bumpers, door sill areas and sometimes around door handles do prevent fingernail and ring scratches around the handle.

Pros can apply it with no wrinkles, but if you look close, you can see it and feel the edge.

But over fresh paint, not sure how long it should cure before apliing the clear film.

My friend used it on the front nose, to protect from bugs and chips, yeah not that noticable unless you've been told it's there.
Can't wait to see it Shar...hang in there.

Yes, you'll have to wait about 3 months so the paint is cured totally.
At least that's what my painter told me after taking delivery of my new stripes.
Here are a few links I have been thinking about.....

Here's an article on the process....

Dealers that install it for you.....

I was thinking of doing this last year but instead went a different route because these films can be costly.

I bought a nose protector from Ford Direct.
http://www.directfordparts.com
For the 4.0 pony the part is # 5R3Z 19A413-BA
KIT-VEH CVR V6 1 $109.35 $0.00 $109.35
Sub Total $109.35
Tax $0.00
Shipping $12.58
Handling Fee $0.00
Total $121.93

Here's a mod I could get without paying the $500+ smackers for a clear one....

....Some older pics of the nose protector....

I had to modify the fan cover extensions in my engine compartment so the post cover part attaches correctly.
I also modified the bottom so it could still be used after I installed my chin spoiler. It is a tight fitting glove!
I just can't use it until late July and I only use it on trips longer than 100 miles.
I think it's a good long haul protector as long as you keep it clean on the underside and don't use it for everyday use.

Just a few ideas for you to ponder......

Ok I bookmarked some of this....I'd consider getting the chin spoiler done..unsure about the rest. I know I've heard about it...idn So sniff the paint...when there is no longer a smell..it's probably good. LOL & I will, too!

Oh and big thanks for posting all the links Ambenz..: )

Cory...LMAO! Seriously,, that guy would again, find something wrong...rims, no blower whatever. Don't get me wrong he has a nice ride, I just don't think HE is very nice. You have to respect what $$ people can AFFORD to spend and not everyone has the **** he has done. Always be respectful of others..he will learn someday.

Shar, it's lookin' great!!!

Ambenz, I have the same front nose-bra. It's been great for the trips down to Champaign to visit my son at school. Bugs wash right off of it and no stone chips on the front

I visited my car today.

It may be ready Friday or early next week. The paint is fabulous! The chin spoiler is on and Cervini's fit was perfect. However..the ducktail..the templates were off on one side and the owner is putting them on himself. If you bolt it too tight the trunk could dimple. The car will be perfect.

Pics will be coming when I get her..watch it'll RAIN! Screw it, she's gonna get wet. <cringe> Hope she runs good it's been a LONG L O N G time.

saw this car in the Meijer parking lot in McHenry yesterday. The clear bra did not offer enough protection around hte passenger side headlight area :wall:...

In the same picture, you can see how apparent the clear bra can be, even from a crappy cell phone picture

My painter said if I did that and he was a judge at a show he'd throw my sorry self out of the show! LOL Now I see exactly what he means...
