Not cuz I'm watching Simpsons or anything at the moment...

I've never been to Springfield and since I'm sitting here on my butt all day long, I think the next time it gets decent out I might take the trip down there.

Anyone been? Know of good places to stop and see?

I'm thinking day trip only...

Thanks!:patriot:

You need to go down there for this

I've been there the last 2 years for the carshow and had fun. But other then that I personally wouldn't go normally, seemed like a boring place to me. But I guess thats all relative and depends what your looking to do. :poke:

Lots of Government and History stuff. I went to Lobby for a Local Off Road Park about 7 years ago. I went in 8th Grade as our class trip 20 years ago. It's alright I might take a run down this year with My wife and kids because they are getting more to the age that they might find some of that interesting, well at least my oldest might. I will probably do it as a weekend trip.

Car show is a good enough reason as any to go down there - I'm in!

I'll just have to find someplace else to cruise to (haven't been to Galena yet either...)

Thanks :)

The show is great, very laid back and a good time. They close off the streets and you park on the roads right downtown. I've gone the last 2 years and had a blast. Ambenz was there last year with the GO crowd
I passed them all on the way down on rt 55 and figured they were going there. :drive:

I know Springfield really well since I have been going there my whole life. Not a lot to do besides go to bars and party but it's nice to get away for the weekend. It's much slower pace which can be a nice change

Mark had posted on my other thread that there is lots of activities this year because of Lincoln's 200th birthday. I would LOVE to visit the cemetary and see Lincolns Tomb.

Hmmm....I DID take that Friday off in September this time ...just in case! Maybe we'll all head down there for the RT 66 Festival. Good Times! I want a commemorative leather jacket and a great parking place! LOL

But we'll talk more this Summer.

Road trips are definately in order after this horrible winter.

YOU MUST GO TO THE ABRAHAM LINCOLN MUSEUM!!!! BE SURE TO SEE THE INTRODUCTARY PROGRAM AS IT'S FREAKIN' COOL AS HELL!

Sorry to yell but I just wanted to emphasize my point. It's the most unique museum I've ever seen and I'm a huge history nut so I've been to a katrillion of them. And it only takes 2-3 hours to see it all. :023:

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mark , do not hold back!

Mark....you should head this up. Seriously, you're the expert man. We could easily do a day trip out there on a day when you are free. What do you think??? It would be a blast! Think about it..I wanna go, Paula wants to go...maybe MORE want to go. Huh? Did I hear a little yes ?????

You know it inside and out! Expert tour guide and even kids would enjoy yes? So peeps with kids

The one guy without a Mustang leading a wagon train of nothing but Mustangs? I don't think I'd be able to drive because I'd be crying so much!!! :010:

Actually this doesn't sound like too bad of an idea. In order for me to participate unfortunately it would have to be a Saturday as I can't take Sundays off to save my life (well except for when I sneak home early for the day like today). And I think this would be a great Fall trip so we'd enjoy the leaves on such a long trip (God I'm getting mellow in my old age). What's nice about Springfield is we could all park at a central point and walk to the Abe Museum and Abe's Home and do both in about 4 hours. Definitely an all kid friendly environment with a Cold Stone Creamery a block from the Museum as a bonus! They'd flip out at the museum, especially the holographic presentation at the beginning.
