Well I am going to have a boatload of cash...saving and workin long hours and the IRS refund. OBJECT: ROUSH front fascia and Cervini Wing.

It's not that easy to organize this because I have the vinyl stripes. It's do it ALL or nothing because the car would look half a**ed if I just did the front fascia. I would have loved to do a little at a time. The vinyl has to go. It is not holding up well...have spots that do not ever come out. So they need to be painted..KaChing! $$ Parts unpainted are about $1200 then install/paint w/striping could be another $1700 +maybe...I need to talk to my body shop guy.

Let me ask a question and see if anyone knows...I had it striped 2 years ago. Is there a chance once they are removed,, that there will be no paint fade and it would look normal underneath the vinyl? If it does, that would be sweet...I could wait on the paint. I'd hate it but it could wait.

Has anyone ordered parts already painted? It is offered but does it really match? I've heard if your car is less than 3 yrs old..it'll match up.

And has ANYONE seen a ducktail that is bondo-ed <or whatever> right into the actual body itself? Therefore looking like the car was designed with it on instead of an add on piece? I thought about that application but maybe the design of the ducktail itself would put too much stress on that bonded point? It's an idea...could be very costly thou.

I've waited a year to do this and now...looks like this is going to happen. Holy crap, no wonder I can't sleep. Rims are going to wait now....

Well on the faded part you might get away with it, you will need a real good detail to bring back the fade possibly, as well as they usually cut the vinyl on the car so there could be some scoring in the clear that needs to be buffed out possibly.

The ducktail is taped on with 3M adhesive tape if I'm not mistaken, thats the way alot of ground effects etc are on the cars now adays. It holds and from up close you can tell that its just slapped on since it is raised compared to the lower part of the trunk lid from the ones I've seen.

Also if you paint the stripes there are 2 options stage 1 and under the clear. 1200 is gonna get you stage 1 usually. The paint is usually higher then the vinyl is because its thicker, and stage 1 the only part sanded down is where the stripes are. Under the clear is much more costly since they have to sand every panel that has stripes and re-clear all of them, but IMO looks way better.

Buy the unpainted and have them painted IMO, if you get painted and the match isn't 100% especially with a bumper your gonna be mad. Things like the mirror inserts that are offset from the other paint is another issue since its not right up with other painted parts you can't tell if its slightly off, but something that has to color match I wouldn't risk it.

I would think you would have paint fade. It might not be bad after a good detail like stated already. Packey Webb in Downers paints stripes for a grand.

Sounds like it will look awesome. I say do it!!! but like you said it will cost ya.

Under the clear..yes that is what I would really like. I do have a great body shop in westmont and I know Packey has a great reputation. I think if I showed up at my body shop with painted stripes...well, LOL he wouldn't be too happy with me.

Dan thanks for explaining all that..had no idea they score it directly on the car, never saw an install. You really educated me on this. :023: Yeah they slap those things body kits with glue, my shop doesn't like that either....
