Just ordered the TCI torque converter for my 5R55s trans. Was thinking that while doing this upgrading, changing out the input shaft to a Level 10 bullet proof shaft. Was wondering if anyone here has had problems twisting of the stock input shaft on the 5R55S. I've heard that it's a weak link in the trans would like to hear any feedback.

If your gunna do it, do it right the first time and upgrade!! That's if the money is there!

Thanks Naughty, that would be the correct decision if the answer is that the stock input shaft is truly weak, but to answer the questionI need some feedback based on Mustangs that have broke the input shaft, and say ones that have run over 500rwhp that have not had any problems.
I know we hear second hand info that gets spammed out to the Mustang community about how bad the original part is and how great the aftermarket one is, usually by vendors that make these upgraded parts. Many performance upgrades are not worth the $ that you spend and could be better spent with a different modification that will give you more horsepower or drive train performance in this case per dollar. So I’m trying to weigh this out with some firsthand feedback to make this choice.
Sometimes buying a part based on insurance is just wasted money if no threat really exists.
Insurance policy’s = A deal with the Devil. I hate them… even though I need them, and willing to pay more every term for them.

I would see what it would cost to have your trans rebuild with better clutches and look into a stallion tq converter. It might cost more up from but will be trouble free down the road
