Boy Oh Boy!
This is "Great!"
Oh, how I love the UPS delivery personnel!!!
Today is the "BIG" day my first mod of 2011 arrives!
I ordered it as Michelle's Christmas present to me, just before Christmas and had to keep quiet about what I actually got for Christmas!

So, without further ADIEU....what's in the box????

http://i790.photobucket.com/albums/yy187/GrabberNemo/Mods/GO%20Seats/allseats.jpg

I ordered these seats from MRT, here's a link....
http://store.mrt-direct.com/11a031.html

I got a few weeks to figure out how to remove the old skins and install the new ones!
If "anyone has a link to removal and installation, with pictures, let me know!
It can't be too hard for a gearhead like me!

Stay tuned for the details and the final pictures...this is gonna be great!!!!

Special thanks to Chris (Venomous) and Doug (RetroPony) for planting the idea of installing new seats....See what a mod you do causes others to mod too!?!?!? :beat:

I've been wanting to do something like this to my seats for a couple years now, just never wanted to spend the money it would cost for custom seats. Too bad there's no sonic blue at mrt, the price is 1/2 of what I've been quoted for custom.

Can't wait to see them installed

Congrat's, they are going to fabulous in your stang. I've done this before to my 70 road runner it was really simple once my neighbor gave me the tool used to remove the clips that draw the material tight. a trick to use so wrinkles dont occur is to leave the clear plastic on the foam when putting the new cover on, also keep a blow dryer handy to heat the wrinkle areas to be able to remove them. Venomous chris did his seats he may have more ideas, Call me if you'd like to talk.

Boy, those look awefully familiar! Enjoy and take your time with the install - good luck.

Hogs pliers - or something like that - is the tool you need for under the seat.

Sweet!...Those look awesome!
What a wonderful wife you have, and she knew exactly what you wanted for Christmas :wink2:

Hog RING pliers to be exact are what you need to get that job done. Oh, and patience. Lots of patience. They say the trick is to heat up the material so it'll be more pliable when you install it over the skins and usually a couple of hours in the sun does the trick. This being January however I'd say putting them on the bathroom floor with a portable ceramic type heater for a couple of hours is your best bet. Good luck!

And the seat covers are going to look awesome! Nice idea!

Andy, those seat covers will look awesome in the car & will help you to complete the look of the car too! I don't have any tips to give you on doing the seats other than what has been posted already by other members. When I did my interior, I unbolted the old seats & bolted in the new ones so I didn't have to worry about swapping the seat covers out. I'm glad your doing this, because it will be a night day difference when it's completed. Oh yeah, don't worry I'll try to put more ideas in your mind for future mods. LOL!

Ken, I wish I had more info. to offer to Andy about doing the seats, but I don't.

Doug, I guess Andy decided that he liked your seats so much that he had to get a set for himself. LOL!

4 hours... wow, I guess I don't feel that guilty that I paid for my install. It's great to do things yourself, but there is something to be said about instant gratification as well!

Keep up the good work.

Andy I did mine but I replaced cracked white leather with black cloth. The first seat took me several hours too. I did the passenger in about 1 1/2 hours and the rear was cake. Go get a set of hog ring pliers it will make it much easier. They are only a few bucks.

I finally finished the seat covers!!!!
I am hoping when it gets warm out the leather will soften and the foam underneath will expand a little into some of the voids where some of the materal is loose...I think it will in time.
All in all I am happy I saved $500 by doing it myself and the knowledge I gained was priceless!
Guess the biggest problem I had was the headrest plastic guide tubes on the passenger side seat.
Since the drivers side seat release button is on the door side, I thought the passenger relaese button would be on the passenger door side...but that is not the case!
Ford makes one "keyed part" for both seats and both release buttons face the drivers side door...UG!

Here's a few pics of where I left off last time and of the finished interior.....

I added some leather protector Michelle had bought but I am hoping to buy some Aerospace 303 soon.
Any recommendations from all those leather seat owners for keeping the seats in good condition will be much appreciated.
I was actually thinking of using saddle soap on the seats....any comments?

Looks great! I've changed out my seats 3 times till I finally got what I truly wanted. Every install I did I used zip ties (cable ties) and have had no problems. In my last install I also put Heated Seats. Nice & warm for the fall, winter & early spring.
