I have not been following the 2010 news 'cause I don't like the overall style of the exterior, especially the head lights, tail lights and the confusion of sharp angles combined with soft curves. The fatter rear fenders to get what everyone is calling "hips" doesn't do anything for me either.

Anyway, to my point (or question)...

A freind sent me pictures from the Detroit Auto show and the Shelby had the same headlights with inboard turn signals we've all seen for the 2010.

But in the March Motor Trend, the cover car (grabber blue with red stripes) has those same headlamps but the car (grabber blue with white stripes) pictured on pages 40 - 43 has a different set of head lights, with the turn signals outboard. I guess they appear to be HID lamps.

Does anyone know for sure if these will be optional headlights for the Mustang in 2010? I like that configuration better than what I guess will be the standard lamps, not even considering they may actually be the HID upgrade.

I read somewhere just yesterday that HIDs probably will be an option. IMO I think they're overrated but then I rarely drive at night lol....

Well, the S197 standard headlights are pretty bad at night so on the 05 to 09 cars the HID are a great plus.

On my Challenger, the HIDS are sweet at night and the high beams (the lens mechanically changes position to redirect the light pattern) are damnazing. However, in the rain or wet weather, the HIDs don't seem that much better than standard lights.

I'm not saying they're not effective. I just object to the $600 price tag Ford put on them in the option list. Definitely over priced!

Hey, I agree. That's why I have the sucky standard lights on my 06.

Tom,

Steeda carries the OEM plug'n'play lights for the '05-'09's. They've already dropped the kit price by $100, but at $895, they are still too expensive for me. If they ever get to around $600, I'd pull the trigger on these.
