I could have swore after they added the aux input on the mustang that I saw something about retrofitting the 2005 with the cable and input since the stereo has the button. And of course now years later I can't find info about it on the site I was looking. Anyone know or find any info anywhere about this?

That would work too, I know I saw something about using the OEM ford one from the later years, would like to find that thread I think I saw it on the mustangs source about 3 years ago, tried searching though.

I am shocked you don't have that jack in your armrest box!
So glad they put them in my 2007.
I actually added another jack closer to the stereo to hook up my IPOD charger mount.
Good luck in getting this cool feature installed!

I think I'm gonna order this kit TOMORROW along with the extra Ipod plug kit!!! I've been looking for this kind of stuff and never found quite what I was looking for at this good of a price. Ended up getting the FM transmitter one that goes in the lighter, but I'm not a fan of the interference I always get and the sound quality isn't as good. THANK YOU for at least helping ME out on this one!

Well...got the kit last Tuesday, installed it and it worked BEAUTIFULLY! Then I turned the car off and it didn't recognize it again! I took everything apart again and it would work intermitantly so I called the tech guy from PIE and he said the need to send me out a new one...So now I'm waiting for that one to show up and I'll try again. The guy at Logjam said that sometimes it happens that the software just doesn't work on one unit, only about 1% of the time, so it figures that it would be with me! I will update after I get the next one. Plus, I only have the Shaker 500...but he said that as far as the units are concerned, they are so widely used, it doesn't matter.

I did find out that the factory aux connector from the 07's wont work on mine, and looking at the ipod adaptor liked above (even though that wasn't what I was looking for) wont for for me either since my build date is prior to 4/5/05, guess I'm stuck with what I got unless I want to go aftermarket

USACUBS, did you ever get this installed?

Sorry...yes I did install the new one after they sent it and it works BEAUTIFULLY! I haven't completed the final install of where the ipod is going to go or the recepticle yet, but for now I just plug the ipod in and lay it in the cup holder. Aux 1 and Aux 3 let you run the ipod off of the head unit using the scan, repeat, skip, etc. buttons and Aux 2 lets you operate the ipod from the ipod screen. The song displays on the radio, and I am completely pleased with the unit! I will include pics when I get a chance to finish the project, as I don't really want to use a standard ipod mount, but something a little more "custom". SO MUCH better then the FM transmitter one that I used before.

Mine has HD Radio, ipod plug to the head unit that actually works directly with the ipod, meaning the dial on the head unit runs/reads the ipod and the screen of the head unit shows everything vs. using the ipod itself, and a usb port. The usb is perfect for running my gps.
This is obviously aftermarket. In 91' I dont think ANY of what I just mentioned was even born yet, lol.
Add 1000w of amps and the next thing you know, your cars on fire! Literally. Owell, you guys with the newer Stangs are safe. They didnt skimp on the alternators like they used to.
