Where the hell is all the salt? The roads were very slick this morning. We are told there is some sort of shotage on salt. Does anyone beleive that? "Round Up" ,ya know the weed killer stuff, well the biproduct of making that stuff is SALT. The company that makes it has so much SALT that it pumps it into the Byous in New Orleans to be carried out into the GULF. It just pisses me off that we are all told so much BS so that somehow it is "justified" why we are getting screwed.

Well....now this IS a first....I had no problems driving to work. Didn't even slip once. BUT...Getting into the frozen ICECUBE was an entirely different story: took 30 minutes to #1 open a door, #2 warm the car up, scape the ice...wasn't coming off at all. I looked at the clock saw it was 6:56 and OMG I wasn't even dressed for work.
So it's true, roads were nasty then? Everything was ice covered and the roads were rough so I knew there had to be crusty ice. And what the hell, they can't cut back on salt it's freaking CHICAGO with real weather. This is a horrible December!
And more crap coming tomorrow....

Be careful out there!
Salt stops working effectively when temps are below 20 and calicum cloride additive works to about 10 degrees depending on sun and traffic.
This is according to our local town public works official.
With this rain/freeze and temps at night around 0, it's gonna stay slick.
Salt prices have also skyrocketing because of last years high demand.
No shortages, but because of the high cost, there picking their intersection accident battles.
If you in traffic and a lot of car are stopped at a light, there's probley less salt where you need to stop so slow down and no hard braking.
Good luck and pray for Indian summer!!!!!!
