Dates are out, although the year is wrong on the website, dates are correct.

http://www.familyevents.com/event/158

September 24-26. 2010 (Fri-Sat-Sun)

Was getting my vacation time set for next year, thought I'd pass along the reminder to those who go and to those who don't want to miss out again! Even my wife asked already if I had made hotel reservations yet.

Dan, Andy, we'll see you there?

Anyone have questions regarding the show, shoot them over!

I dare to say, the WCS Hotel of Choice: Abraham Lincoln (downtown).

This event has become a Big event for the Grabber Gang and I do hear that there will be around 25 or more (we had 14 GO's at the 2009 show) Grabbers joining our contigent for the 2010 show.
There's even talk of making this the National Grabber event for 2010, with a possible 50+ GO's from all over the nation!
Michelle and I will be co-hosting, coordinating, and leading the south bound "Conga line" again for 2010....all Mustang owners are invited to join us for the trip down.
Details will follow as the date nears...
It's a awesome time!!!!

That's me in the lead rollin down I 55 !

I may have to check it out this coming year.

I am also planning the entire Rt 66 drive from Chicago to Santa Monica in mid June with the Mustang and my 11 year old as my co-pilot. I plan on taking 2-2 1/2 weeks to make the 5,000 mile round trip journey. Hard to believe that after 3 years I only have 8,000 miles on my pony and only been in the rain twice. When I get back from my trip it'll have almost twice as many miles and alot more rain days. I still think the trip will be well worth it, especially when the weather allows for top-down driving.

I wanted to do this before but could not take off work. Think I will save a few Days this year.

From what I have learned...book your rooms now if you want to stay at a hotel as a group . Springfield has a lot of stuff going on that weekend.

Booked the Ab Lincoln again. FYI - prices went up $5/night.

Time to give this subject a kick in the pants! Coming end of September. If you have not registered yet, no real worries there. If you don't have accommodations yet, better get on that soon. I recommend the Hilton or the Abraham Lincoln right downtown. How convenient - park your car downtown, walk to the hotel, walk back to your car, never have to move for the weekend or worry about losing your spot.

This is a great time, even the wife enjoys it. Good family weekend excuse. Lots to do around the show, shopping, Lincoln historical sights, Frank Lloyd Wright sights, historical landmarks (good for fun photo ops!). Long cruise on Friday night into downtown, more of a parade than anything. Come on, who's IN???

I know Andy coordinates a group of GO's, as well Dan, Chris and myself regularly attend - we need some new blood. Be part of 1,000+ cars!

The WI contingent will be departing EARLY am on that Friday to get through Chicago before rush hour. Then a stop for breakfast at a Fabulous 50's diner along the way.

Yes definitely a great relaxing carshow weekend. For those of you who enjoyed the antioch cruise the other night, think of that but 10X more cars and a much longer cruise, that is more organized and moves faster for the Friday night cruise. Friday night is my favorite part of this weekend. The Sat & Sun show is good too but Friday is the best night of them all.

OK GANG! Departure is this Friday with the show this weekend.

Is it just the usual suspects again this trip?

Dan and Chris, what time do you guys plan on heading south? If anything, we can connect at the hotel and head to the staging point together.

Andy and Michelle - I know you usually come in with your own crew and stay just outside of town. Want to connect before the staging point so we can roll together?

Anyone else making the trip this time???

We were going to do noon, but now I'm thinking 10ish. I want to go to Joe Rogers Chili and do the chili challenge that man vs food did, or at least try the chili, and of course springfield nothing is open late so they close at 4pm

GOTurtle and I have to be in Dwight, Illinois at approx 9:30 - 9:45 am (Exit 220, IL 47 at Subway), and leave no later than 10:00 am to catch a huge east coast Conga line of Mustangs at the first rest stop just south of Shirley, Illinois by 11am.
Then we are stopping at the rest stop in Sherman about 12:45 to pick up a few more...hopefully arriving in Springfield about 1:30.
The will be a lot of non GO Mustangs in our conga line (we call them Skittles) and everyone is welcome to join the line...that's why we call it a Conga line!!!!
Your bound to catch us along I 55 on Friday or just meet us at any of the locations above.
We are staying at the Red Roof Inn, 3200 Singer Ave..just off Dirkson Parkway and would also love to see you guy come out for the party in the parking lot Friday and Saturday night!
We will see you there...4 sure!

Sounds like Becky and I will become one of the "Skittles!"

We normally stop at an old diner on the way down for breakfast. Do you and any of your crew want to meet for breakfast? I think it's a little north of the Dwight rally point.

Doug, you sure know how to throw a wrench in the works!
I called Alex (PJ056SC) who we are meeting in Dwight, (he lives there) and he said that a better place for a large group like us (we will be 9 people strong) would be just down the street at the old route 66 family restaurant.
http://www.route66restaurant.com
It's got a lot of history AND Alex is a regular so he know the food is better there.
So, Mr. Throw the wrench in the works...LOL! We will see you at there at 9am or just before...hopefully if I can get my local Conga liners to leave a little earlier!!!!
You see E-Mike, his daughter, and his brother will also be joining us!
I gotta go post on the other site and hopefully there will be no conflicts....if you don't see us at 9 or so, you'll know we will just meet you at the rt 66 restaurant about 9:45.
Gosh, saying "NO" would have been sooo easy.....Am I making you feel guilty yet...LOL!!

REMEMBER...we have to be pulling out of the lot at about 9:45!!!

Route 66 Restaurant it is! Guilty? HECK NO! If I have learned nothing - it's not the destination - it's the adventure getting there!

I will bring an extra radio or two and hope we are compatible. Looking forward to the conga line already! Might be a little wet on the way, but should dry up and be a BEA-U-TIFUL weekend! (finally)

Was just checking info for the show this weekend, a couple notable changes I wanted to pass along...

Nights will be ending 1 hour EARLIER, 10pm instead of 11pm

They have added a BURNOUT COMPETITION on Saturday at 1:30 - Chris, maybe you'd like to show us how it's done?

They are also still expecting approx 1,100 cars and 80,000 people to attend - and Friday's parade still leaves the mall at 6pm.

Doug, that sucks that were losing one hour at night & I might be interested in doing the burnout thing.

Probably not, I think we are heading out of Chris' place at like 10am. To get to Dwight we would have to leave somewhere around 7 instead, which means I would have to be up around 5am to get ready etc. With the exception of still being awake from the night before at 5am, I don't think I've woke up at 5am in over a couple years.

Chris - Dan, do either of you have an interest in UFC? There's a PPV UFC fight Sat night - maybe we could find someplace showing it to hang out for the evening.
